Christina Hales’ Note to the Timeshare Industry
By Christina Hale, Mobius VP Consulting Partner
The soaking Florida rain couldn’t dampen the fun of another ARDA WIN social! We at CustomerCount by Mobius Vendor Partners took great pleasure co-hosting with Lemonjuice to share our appreciation for you on the eve of International Day of Self Care.
Hearing from many of you that post-Covid era stress and anxiety continue to be difficult for your friends and families affirms a number of things we talked about. Most importantly, it underscores the positive POWER OF VACATIONS – an industry where you provide a service to people and families just like your own. And that is a big deal! And it is not just me who thinks so!

It is an important reminder that the mind, body and performance are all measurably improved for people who vacation regularly, one of the greatest benefits the timeshare industry offers its owners and their guests.
As we talked about, some of us a little bit older who grew up as part of a generation of play rather than a generation of phones now share the anxiety caused by the inability to take an earned vacation. For those of you interested in more information on this topic, here is a link to the book I mentioned: https://jonathanhaidt.com/anxious-generation/ .
That said, vacationing helps people relax and recharge, and it also helps their wallets. 48 percent of workers in the US predict that they will not be able to take their earned vacation days for various reasons – days that are a significant part of their compensation package on the job. The US Travel Association reported that in 2018, this amounted to 768 million days of unused vacation time, with more than 30% of it forfeited completely. In fact, it is estimated that the monetary loss by American workers runs in the hundreds of billions of dollars.
Even more importantly, people who do not vacation regularly are eight times more likely to have heart problems. I don’t like those odds for myself or my loved ones, but I do deeply appreciate that you have engaged in a career supporting the power of vacation for people.
Cheers to you and please don’t let your practice of self-care be limited to just one day a year. You deserve better!
