Do your employees believe that the company provides clear, ongoing communication?

Here are some sample questions we like to ask employees:

  • How happy are you with the overall internal communication you currently receive?
  • Please rate your level of satisfaction with the communication from the following departments/teams/individuals.
  • What suggestions do you have about improving the company’s communication strategy going forward?

Communication issues in businesses are not uncommon. Inadequate communication to and between employees can be very expensive for your company. There are effective strategies you can implement into your corporation once you become aware of what the issues are.

When you become aware of the issues, you can make a plan as to what is required to make your communications clear. Such topics as remote working, scheduled feedback sessions, the health of the company, competition issues, are only some of the issues companies are dealing with in today’s market.

Conducting the needed employee survey is critical to cultivating a successful and effective communication strategy for your business. By gaining valuable insight into your employees’ communication preferences, you will have a clear understanding of how you should be communicating. Such topics as: who you will be talking to, why you are talking to them, how and when you will talk to them, what form of communication the content should take and what channels you should use to share it, channels like social media, email, blog posts, video content on YouTube or Vimeo all can be used to communicate your messages.

The number of times an employee needs to hear a message is also key. Research shows the average prospect needs to hear a message seven times before they take action. Your employees may not need seven times, but it’s always best to over deliver the message than to deliver it once or twice and assume the employees received it.

We have heard it said, “If you’re getting tired of delivering your message, then good for you. That means you’re doing your job.”
